The Serra de Tramuntana gives its name to a road cycling route that will allow you to get to know the most important mountain range in the Balearic Islands.
You will enjoy its most hidden roads, its funniest curves and its most epic climbs. All in a multi-stage journey that will take you from the famous beaches of Palma to the Formentor lighthouse or the legendary Sa Calobra road.
For several days you will roll through a landscape that has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and you will discover how human activity and nature have merged for centuries.
Mallorca is much more than paradisiacal beaches and with this route you will get to know its hidden face, its multitude of roads that wind through olive and almond trees or the villages that are farthest from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
Come discover the secrets of Mallorca at the stroke of a pedal and relax on its beaches at the end of each stage.
The first stage leaves the capital and crosses the city through its old town. Once we leave Palma, we will continue along secondary roads without much traffic and we will cross the Raiguer de Mallorca, the lower area of the Sierra de Tramuntana. We will pass through the towns of Santa Maria, Alaro, Lloseta, Biniamar, Selva or Campanet, all of them towns specialized in the cultivation of vineyards for the production of excellent Majorcan wines.
The second stage begins with one of the most beautiful sections of the entire route, the mythical port of Faro de Formentor. At this stage we will practically always shoot within the Sierra de Tramuntana and that means that we will be connecting small ports with the sea at our side. The spectacle of nature at this point is complete and will prepare us for an exceptional end of the route at the monastery of Lluc, a pilgrimage point and a place much visited by hikers and families.
In the third stage we will ride through one of the most famous ports among cyclists who visit Mallorca, the port of Sa Calobra. It is a 12 km road that winds its way to the town that gives it its name. This road has some of the most fun curves you can do on a bike and is considered one of the best cycling roads in the world. After relaxing on the coast, we will have to go up where we came down and we will undo its beautiful horseshoe curves on the way to the Gorg Blau and Cuber reservoirs. From here we can see the Puig Major, the highest point on the island, and we will head towards Sòller, where we will finish the stage.
The fourth stage leaves Sòller and heads towards Deia. We will pedal through the second half of the Sierra de Tramuntana and we will do it through roads with various slides that will not allow us to relax. It will be between these ups and downs where we will be able to observe the old farming system used in the mountains, a system that takes advantage of all the land possible thanks to some characteristic terraces. We will pass through the towns of Valldemossa or Banyalbufar, where the end of the stage will be located.
The last stage of our adventure will be the farewell to the Sierra de Tramuntana. We will pass through well-known towns such as Estellencs, Andratx or Calvia and we will enjoy its quiet mountain roads in a continuous up and down that will not allow us long breaks. With Palma in the background we will roll the last kilometers enjoying a unique experience on wheels.
