Trip description
Province Girona It is a training ground for the international half platoon. It would be Lece Armstrong and his team who would show the rest of the international cyclists the advantages of this territory. After them, other teams and fans would arrive to travel its roads and taste the wonderful Catalan cuisine.
The city of Girona, with its famous old town, is a place not to be missed. Its cobblestone streets and colorful houses along the Onyar River create a magical atmosphere. Within the Força Vella, one of the most emblematic spaces is the Jewish Quarter, one of the best preserved in the world.
Platja D'Aro welcomes you with its golden sand beaches and lively nightlife. But it's on the roads surrounding the city where the magic for cyclists really lies. Gently curving coastal roads take you past steep cliffs and hidden coves, offering you spectacular views at every turn.
Continuing towards the north, we will reach Roses y Cadaqués, charming fishing villages situated in a picturesque bay. The surrounding roads take you through varied landscapes, from vineyard-covered hills to hidden coves with crystal-clear waters.
La gastronomy The Costa Brava is as diverse as its landscapes. Try traditional Catalan dishes such as fideuá, suquet de peix, feast on fresh seafood straight from the Mediterranean. From grilled prawns to grilled fish, the local cuisine here is simply delicious.
All this experience accompanied during all the routes by a support vehicle with mechanical support, which will make it easier for us provisioning solid and liquid, and the possibility of changing clothes after the climbs.

Itinerary
Arrival and welcome dinner
Arrival of the cyclists in the charming city of Girona.
Girona, known for its historical beauty, offers an unrivalled setting to begin our adventure. Located in the heart of Catalonia, this city has witnessed centuries of history, from its medieval past to its flourishing Jewish community during the Middle Ages. As you stroll through its cobbled streets, you can discover monuments and corners that tell stories of ancient kingdoms and the Sephardic culture that once thrived in its famous Jewish quarter, the “Call Jueu”. This neighbourhood, one of the best preserved in Europe, is a labyrinth of narrow streets that transports us to another time.
Before dinner, we will meet at the hotel to carry out the welcome briefing. It will be the perfect time to get to know each other and review the exciting routes that await us during the trip. With each pedal stroke, we will discover the unique landscapes that surround this historic city.
To end the day, we will have dinner at the hotel, where we will tell you in detail about the unforgettable experience you will live over the next few days, touring Girona and its surroundings by bicycle, connecting with its history and nature.

Girona - Girona
This route is a spectacular ride that combines the natural beauty of the Catalan landscape with the challenge and excitement that road cyclists seek. Along these kilometres, you will pass through emblematic places and enjoy the opportunity to challenge yourself on one of the most iconic climbs in the region.
We start our journey from Girona, a city that has become a point of reference for professional cyclists from all over the world. From here, we head towards Banyoles, famous for its impressive natural lake, the largest in Catalonia, which has been the scene of important sporting competitions, including Olympic events. On the shores of the lake, you can enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings before continuing the route.
The path will take us to Santa Maria del Collell and Mieres, two towns surrounded by gentle hills offering a perfect landscape for cycling, with quiet roads and stunning views. From Mieres, we will return to Banyoles to take a detour to Santa Maria de Camós, a small rural town, ideal for a break and to enjoy the charm of the area.
For the more adventurous, the route offers an extension option with the Ascension to Rocacorba, a mountain pass that has gained renown among cyclistsWith sections reaching a gradient of 10%, Rocacorba is an exciting challenge, but its reward is the panoramic views from the top, which make every pedal stroke worthwhile. This extra adds 22km to the route, making it an epic experience.
Finally, the descent will take us back to Girona via Riudellots de la Creu, completing a day in which you will have visited some of the most iconic places valued by the cycling community.

Girona - Platja D´Aro
This spectacular route from Girona to Platja d'Aro is perfect for cyclists who enjoy both the challenge of the climbs and the beauty of the landscapes. Along the way, you'll pass through a variety of settings, from quiet inland villages to the stunning Mediterranean coastline.
We leave Girona and soon enter the countryside towards Caldes de Malavella, famous for its hot springs. As we move forward, rural landscapes surround us with green fields and gentle hills. Cycling through this area, you will enjoy the quiet roads that wind between typical Catalan farmhouses and small farms, offering a relaxing environment ideal for riding.
After Caldes, we gently ascend towards Llagostera, a picturesque village surrounded by wooded hills. From here, the landscape begins to transform, and we begin to notice the first changes in the vegetation as we approach the Costa Brava mountain range.
The route takes us to the Collet Castle of Terra Negra, a key point where The road begins to gain altitude and the views become more impressive.Here, cyclists will begin to feel the challenge of the slopes, but also the visual reward, with landscapes ranging from forest-covered mountains to the distant blue of the Mediterranean Sea.
Upon arriving at Tossa de Mar, you will find yourself in one of the most beautiful towns on the Costa Brava. Its white houses and the imposing silhouette of the medieval castle dominate the coast. From this point, The route continues along the coastal road, one of the most spectacular in the entire region., famous among cyclists for its curves and cliff-top views. As you pedal, you can enjoy the view of the deep blue sea on one side and the mountains on the other, with small hidden coves and golden sandy beaches along the way.
Passing through picturesque coastal villages, you'll feel the salty air and see the colours change with the daylight. Finally, you'll reach Platja d'Aro, a popular destination on the Costa Brava, where sandy beaches and the hustle and bustle of coastal life will welcome you after a challenging but unforgettable route.

Platja D´Aro - Roses
This route takes us from the lively coast of Platja d'Aro to the serene beauty of Roses, passing through some of the most stunning landscapes of the Empordà. Along this route, you will enjoy a perfect mix of inland paths, mountains and medieval villages, with landscapes that invite you to stop and admire them.
We set off from Platja d'Aro, a popular coastal destination, and head inland along quiet country roads towards Calella de Palafrugell, but not towards its coast, but towards the heart of Calella, a charming town that combines history and tradition. Here, the narrow cobbled streets are surrounded by old houses and small corners full of charm, away from the tourist bustle of the coast. It is an ideal place to feel the authentic atmosphere of the inland Costa Brava.
From Calella, we continue towards Esclanyà and begin our climb through the mountains of Begur. winding roads of this area offer an exciting challenge for cyclists, with hairpin bends and panoramic views over the green hills of the EmpordàThe climb culminates in the village of Begur, known for its medieval castle and its narrow streets that offer impressive views of the sea and the surrounding mountains.
From Begur, we descend along a Curvy road towards the impressive Aiguafreda cove, followed by Sa Riera, where the views of the cliffs and the Mediterranean Sea will accompany us throughout this coastal stretch. It is a perfect time to enjoy the wild beauty of the Costa Brava before heading back inland.
Our next stage takes us along rural roads towards Sant Julià de Boada and Palau-Sator, two charming medieval towns that seem to have stopped in time. Here, the roads are quiet and flat, surrounded by cultivated fields and small hills. The peace and serenity of the landscape allow us to regain our strength and enjoy the beauty of the area.
We continue towards Torroella de Montgrí, where the impressive figure of the Montgrí Castle dominates the horizon. This fortress, perched on a solitary mountain, is an emblem of the region and a point of reference along the route.
The final stretch of the route takes us back towards the coast, passing through Sant Martí d'Empúries, a historic town full of Greco-Roman remains., and then towards Sant Pere Pescador, with its extensive sandy beaches and protected landscapes.
Finally, we come to Roses, an important fishing and tourist port on the Costa BravaThe Citadel of Roses, an imposing fortification that holds centuries of history, marks the end of this incredible journey. After almost 100 km of exciting climbs, rapid descents and landscapes that combine the rural and the coastal, we end our adventure in this vibrant seaside town.

Roses - Roses
This day takes us to the heart of the Natural Park of Cap de Creus, a unique and wild terrain where the mountains meet the Mediterranean Sea, offering a rugged landscape that challenges and enchants cyclists. From the start in Roses, we pedal into the park, where the wind, light, and rock formations shaped by time accompany us at every turn. The terrain begins to gain altitude, and you will feel the challenge of the route as you head towards Cadaqués, picturesque white village that was a refuge and source of inspiration for Salvador Dalí.
Before reaching Cadaqués, we go through some moderate climbs that will allow us to enjoy spectacular views over the sea and the coast. Once in Cap de Creus, the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, the road becomes a journey through an almost lunar landscape.a ascent to the Cap de Creus lighthouse Not only does it challenge you with its curves and unevenness, but it also rewards you with an unrivalled view of the Mediterranean, surrounded by rocks eroded by the wind.
Back to Cadaqués, the path allows us to relax as we gently descend towards the port and enjoy the calm of this famous coastal town. After walking through its narrow streets, the route continues towards Port of the Jungle But instead of going along the coast, we took an inland road that crosses a more rugged and mountainous landscapeThis section is known for its curves and moderate gradients, which offer an interesting challenge to cyclists. As we progress, the terrain becomes more demanding, with climbs that allow us to enjoy panoramic views of Cap de Creus from a different perspective. This secluded and quiet section is ideal for concentrating on the pace and the natural surroundings, away from the coastal bustle.
Upon arriving at Port de la Selva, a picturesque fishing village, we have two options: continue towards Llançà over softer, rolling terrain, ideal for those who prefer a quieter day, or tackle the demanding climb to the Monastery of Sant Pere de RodesThis challenge, with its 8 km and 520 m of elevation gain, will test your endurance as you climb a winding road that will take you to this impressive historical monument, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire region and the coast.
If you choose to continue towards Llançà, The road becomes easier and offers a rolling stretch, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the landscape of Alt EmpordàFrom here, the route continues towards Vilajuïga, famous for its mineral waters, and then towards Palau-saverdera, on a gentle and panoramic route that will take us back to Roses.
This circular route is an excellent combination of challenging climbs, unique landscapes and rolling stretches, which will allow you to explore the natural wealth of the Cap de Creus Natural Park and the history of the Alt Empordà in a single day.

Roses - Girona
Our last day of the route takes us from Roses to Girona, crossing some of the most emblematic landscapes of Alt Empordà and ending the trip in one of the best areas for cycling. This stretch is a perfect mix of nature, history and roads that invite you to enjoy cycling at its best.
We left Roses, leaving behind the Mediterranean coast and heading towards the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, one of the most unique natural spaces in Catalonia. This parque naturalStretching across marshes, lagoons and open meadows, the route offers a unique wetland landscape framed by the distant horizon of the Pyrenees. As we cycle along flat, quiet roads, the feeling of serenity is palpable, with the sound of migratory birds and the gentle whisper of the wind in the reed beds.
We continue towards Sant Pere Pescador, a charming coastal town surrounded by fields and orchards. Here, the landscape begins to transform as we head into the interior of the Empordà, leaving the wetlands behind and entering more rural and undulating terrain. The pace remains gentle, allowing us to enjoy the peace of the country roads and villages that dot the region.
From Sant Pere, we turn off towards Sant Miquel de Fluvià, where the landscape changes again. Here we find small hills and fields of sunflowers that stretch as far as the eye can see. The road winds gently through Camallera and Bàscara, villages with a strong medieval character, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The presence of traditional farmhouses adds an authentic touch to the landscape, and the quiet roads make every pedal stroke a pleasure.
As we approach Banyoles, the terrain becomes more undulating.
From Banyoles, we continue towards Girona, with its fields and small villages that announce the arrival to the city. The terrain profile is favourable, allowing a rolling finish that allows us to enjoy the last kilometres of the trip.
Upon arriving in Girona, the feeling of completing this incredible adventure on two wheels is indescribable.
The city, with its impressive historic centre and its cycling atmosphere, is the perfect place to end this experience.. Cycling through its cobbled streets, passing by its Cathedral and Call Jueu, is the ideal end to a trip through one of the best road cycling areas.
