Tracks of Monte Perdido, in the shadow of the bearded vulture

This mountain bike stage route could well be called 'Quebrantahuesos Territory', since it takes place in the habitat of the emblematic bird of the Pyrenees.

According to Greek mythology, the Pyrenees were named after Pyrenees, a young daughter of the god Atlas (another mountain range... what a coincidence) which Hercules managed to seduce and take with him on one of his trips and when she died, he accumulated stones to cover her tomb (a mammoth tomb... without a doubt). No less evocative is the version that tells us about an ancestral place name, of Iberian or Basque origin, according to which the mountain range was called fill you, which means “mountains of the moon”, since Ilene It's the moon.

In any case, we are faced with a spectacular and almost magical natural environment, where despite the arrival of man and civilization, there are still many corners to discover... always in an environmentally friendly way. And one way to do it is through mountain biking, our rhythm, without rushing, but without pause, hand in hand with Bikefriendly Tracks.

LOST MONTE TRACKS

DISTANCE: 214 KM

SLOPE: +6.775 M

PHYSICAL DIFFICULTY: HIGH / TECHNICAL: HIGH

TOWNS: Boltaña, Aínsa, Laspuña, Lafortunada, Bielsa, Parzán, Gistaín, Plan, Saravillo.

Once again we find a circular route, usually with departure and arrival in Aínsa. It can be done in 3 or 4 days, although it can also be adapted to the client's demand and physical condition. A large part of the route passes through routes of the Zona Zero BTT center, considered the most important in Spain.. In our case, we will travel through some of its most emblematic sections: the Tella canal, the Comodoto, the Cruz de Guardia descent.

Aínsa-Bielsa:

We can start the route from Hotel Monasterio de Boltaña or from the Hotel Sánchez in Aínsa. The first 25 km do not have large slopes, alternating stretches of road and dirt tracks until Laspuña, where we will ride along a beautiful stretch of riverbank next to the Cinca River, which flows into Lafortunada. Once there we can regain our strength before facing the tough climb to the Tella dolmen. Once we reach this, we will begin the canal route, which will make us test our physical and mental strength, since we will have to push our bike for some stretches. In exchange, we will be able to enjoy a spectacular landscape.

Bielsa-Parzan:

We begin the first 10 km on asphalt to the town of Espierba, recently known for the recording of some scenes from the movie “Palm Trees in the Snow.” From here on, the terrain to La Estiva runs along a track with good ground and very little unevenness, contemplating spectacular views of the Pineta Valley, presided over by the Three Sorores: Cilindro, Monte Perdido and Añisclo. After enjoying this balcony of the Pyrenees we approach Comodoto, for which we must climb a short stretch off the bike, and then walk down to Petramula. But the beauty of the mountains that surround us makes us not even appreciate the effort.

At this point we can choose between ascending to the Parzán mines with 7 km and significant slopes, or descending directly along the Chisagüés track to Parzán.

Parzan-Bielsa:

We begin this stage by ascending the track to the Collado de Urdiceto and its lake. To go to the Chistau valley we will share the route with the GR-11. Before descending to Gistaín, we will visit one of the most beautiful corners of the Pyrenees, the Viadós huts. And we will ascend the track that leads us to Cruz de Guardia, with a fun trail that leads to Bielsa.

Bielsa-Aínsa

The first 14 km to Saravillo are on asphalt, later we alternate sections of tracks and paths passing through small towns without many services but with beautiful forests. In Torrelisa the dizzying descent to Aínsa begins, alternating the routes of Maxiavalanche 1 and Maxiavalanche 2. An unbeatable end to the route for Monte Perdido Tracks.
