More bikes, more health and a higher quality of life for everyone. Cities around the world must work under this premise. Reflect, share and carry out new or revised urban development models that encourage the use of bicycles.
We are facing a global environmental crisis and forecasts estimate that by 2050, close to 70% of the world's population will live in urban environments. It is more necessary than ever to transform the current and outdated model of a city focused on satisfying the needs of the car to that of a city designed by and for people, with the bike as a priority means of urban transport.
Seville is a good example of how sustainable urban mobility policies can achieve a more livable city, on a human scale. And the progressive implementation of the bicycle, both public and private, as a common means of transport to move through its streets, has had a lot to do with it. Let's analyze the reasons for success.
At Bikefriendly we are firm defenders of urban development and sustainable mobility policies associated, of course, with the daily use of the bicycle as a means of transport. And Zaragoza has become one of the best examples in recent years. Proof of this is the great event organized from April 27 to 30 around the bike.
Lorenzo Gallardo and David Botello, both riding (on a bike), riding both (on another bike), link the different points of interest in the capital's neighborhoods (monuments, parks, unique buildings...) by pedaling. Pure sustainable urban transportation that fits perfectly with the casual tone of the program, the presenters and the very diverse guests.
Bikefriendly is present, from March 8 to 10, at the XNUMXst European Conference on Sustainable Mobility in Universities, held at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. This is the first European platform in which universities from various European countries and other territories have the opportunity to share their needs, challenges and different solutions in the field of accessibility and sustainable mobility.
The STARS Project promotes active travel to school, both by bike and on foot, in the nine participating European cities. In Madrid, there are already 35 educational centers that have joined this adventure of sustainable mobility supervised by the City Council by creating pedibuses and bicibuses.
