We join the challenge posed by these bicycle lovers, who have just participated in the Titan Desert 2018 with the aim of raising funds for Lucía, a girl who suffers from a rare disease, severe epileptic encephalopathy.
9-5-2018 CHALLENGE ACCOMPLISHED!
"On June 14, 2017, a group of 12 friends in love with sports met with one purpose, to develop a project in which we would unite sport and social action. In sports we thought about carrying out an ambitious and new challenge for all of us, the Titan Desert 2018. In terms of social action, helping Lucía was our goal. A wonderful girl who life has not made it easy for her.
We told our surroundings about our project and, immediately, we had a very positive response. We found both companies and individuals willing to participate. In a short time we had dozens of people making anonymous contributions and companies such as DEYSA LAND ROVER, SGS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, HUMAN TECAR, ALLCOT and BIKEFRIENDLY.
A few days ago the project became a reality. That group of 12 dreamers who one day thought that the project was difficult but achievable can now say very loudly and with great pride that the goal is ACCOMPLISHED both in sports and, especially, in helping Lucía. That wonderful girl who captivated us from the first day we met her.”
When we met this group of 'magnificent crazy people' and they presented us with their proposal to participate in the next edition of the Titan Desert with Bikefriendly Tours, we feel the vital need to join the project and collaborate with them as a supportive sponsor.
“We are a team of 12 sports lovers with experience in long-distance competitions (Ironman, Triathlon, Ocean Man, etc.) who seek to improve Lucía's life”, they told us when we met them. Lucia, niece of one of the promoters, He lives in Logroño, he has just turned five years old and was born with a rare disease, severe epileptic encephalopathy, which entails acute psychomotor retardation. With their previous project they already got the money necessary to renew the special chair that Lucía needs for her daily trips, and that she had outgrown. The objective now was to raise funds for the acquisition of a standing frame, which helps reduce back problems and pain as he grows.
To get it, From April 29 to May 4, 2018, they participated in the Titan Desert 2018, which consists of 650 km of mountain biking in 6 stages through Morocco. And to complete a challenge of such an entity they have had the support and experience of the biker Milton Ramos, who was training with the group, transmitting all his knowledge to them to be able to face a challenge of such magnitude with guarantees. Bikefriendly Tours, for its part, has provided support in coordinating the organization of the test, the design and production of custom equipment and supporting events to present the project.
Both the project and the management of the donations have been registered on a solidarity crowdfunding platform, kukumiku, which has also provided a guarantee of transparency throughout the entire process.
