Senda del Oso Greenway and Fuso Greenway

Asturian Greenways

As we already mentioned in a previous post of this blog, Greenways promoted by the Foundation of the Spanish Railways They seem to us to be the perfect alternative to get started in the family cycle tourism. So let's go through some of the most notable ones, in this case, of the Principality of Asturias.

Bear Trail Greenway

Asturias has up to 9 itineraries available within the Green Routes program, the Senda del Oso being, without a doubt, the most spectacular and complete of all, both for its length (36 kilometers), and for the impressive natural landscapes that it crosses. It was once the route of the old mining train of Teverga and Quirós, two of the councils through which it runs. The other three are Santo Adriano, Proaza and Oviedo.

The road is cemented or paved along the entire route, making it accessible not only by bicycle or walking, but also for people with reduced mobility who use wheelchairs, who can also enjoy the numerous original bridges and tunnels. that have been preserved, for the enjoyment of all users. We are in the heart of Asturias, so you can imagine that the natural wealth of the itinerary will be up to par. Enclaves such as the valleys of the Trubia, Teverga and Quirós rivers, the Valdemurio gorge, the Protected Landscape of the Sierra del Aramo and Pico Caldoveiro or the Natural Monument of the Las Xanas Gorge, are just some examples of the landscape gems that we find with each pedal stroke. Without forgetting the possibility of visiting the Casa del Oso, in Proaza, and its characteristic inhabitants...

At a heritage level, a good pinch of Asturian pre-Romanesque could not be missing in this ideal itinerary for traveling with children by bicycle, with temples of La Plaza and Tuñón, as good examples, the rural complex of Bermiego and its 32 granaries and paneras, or the Ethnographic Museum of Quirós and region.[videoplayer main_style=”style-1″ video_link=”https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVf5gwV5VpQ&feature=youtu.be” title_font_options=”tag:div” subtitle_font_options=”tag:div” title_t_heading=”” subtitle_t_heading=”” etc_h=””]Fuso Greenway

Connected to the Greenway of the Senda del Oso in Fuso, this short itinerary of 7,8 kilometers in length departs from the capital of the Principality, Oviedo, in search of the Nalón Valley, crossing natural landscapes such as the Gafo Valley or La Peña. Avis, and monumental complexes such as the city of Oviedo itself, or the spa link to the Las Caldas spa and Las Caldas castle.

All this, through a perfectly paved platform, suitable for all types of users (reduced mobility included) and that preserves 4 tunnels and a viaduct that, without a doubt, will delight the youngest cyclists in the house.
