Bikefriendly and the Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE) will work together on promotional actions for the new Bikefriendly Kids travel line, created by the agency specialized in cycle tourism.
Bikefriendly Tours, the Travel Agency Specialized in the cycle tourism sector, belonging to Bikefriendly Group, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Foundation of the Spanish Railways, institution in charge of promoting since 1993 the Greenways, through which both parties commit to working together on actions to promote Bike-friendly trips with children, operated on various Greenways in the Spanish state.
With the signing of this agreement, the Greenways Area of the FFE shows its support for the launch of the new line of family trips from Bikefriendly Tourscalled Bikefriendly Kids and that for 2018 it already has four tourist packages in destinations such as Greenways of Asturias, Girona, Tarragona y Alicante. Catalog that will be expanded for the summer months with the incorporation of new destinations.
The joint work of the travel agency and the Foundation will be reflected in concrete actions such as the distribution of promotional flyers for the travel Bikefriendly Kids en Greenways in fairs or events in the sector, joint participation in specific actions, the creation of new tourist packages annually, as well as the launch of different joint communication actions through social networks, websites, catalogs and bulletins or newsletters of both entities.Bikefriendly Kids is an innovative bicycle tourism product, which places the child as the main protagonist of the trip. As soon as they arrive at the hotel, the little ones receive a gift specially designed for them, and which is different in each of the destinations. All the proposed itineraries can be adapted and personalized to the age and physical-technical level of the children. Likewise, each of the trips can be complemented with other routes or complementary activities for the little ones.
The fact of having the collaboration of the area of Greenways of the Spanish Railways Foundation When designing these packages, it guarantees two things: firstly, that the routes run along paths or tracks prepared from old railway layouts, with a smooth, compacted, safe surface, with hardly any unevenness, along signposted routes. This allows all family members to pedal on them, whether with mountain or hybrid bikes, tandems or cycle trailers.
And secondly, that the routes pass through natural spaces of great beauty and different enclaves of great cultural interest and that they recover the enormous railway heritage left by the old train routes.
The Greenways Program was born in 1993 with the aim of rescuing from oblivion the more than 7.600 kilometers of disused railway lines. – or that were never used – with the aim of recovering this enormous railway heritage (magical tunnels, surprising viaducts, romantic stations...) and giving them a new ecotourism use. Since then, these old railway routes have been conditioned to be traveled by travelers who are somewhat different from those who traveled them by train: cyclists, walkers and people with reduced mobility, already existing 2.600 km of greenways and more than 120 routes throughout Spain.
