We begin September at Bikefriendly with two dates marked in red for a long time on our calendar: the European Mobility Week and the European Sports Week, two milestones of special relevance for a project like ours, so linked to sustainable mobility and sports practice.
Sustainable mobility: change starts with us
From September 16 to 22, the European Women's Week is celebrated. Mobility under the motto “Walk with us”, which seeks to raise awareness about the negative consequences of irrational car use in the city, and the benefits of using more sustainable means of transportation such as transportation public, traveling on foot… and of course, the bicycle.
Coinciding with this event we have organized and participated in a set of activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of promoting sustainable mobility in our cities, as engine to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, to through two awareness sessions that we carried out on the 18th of September at the headquarters of the Huesca Provincial Council.
During these activities, topics have been put on the table as interesting as the new technologies applied to cycle mobility and cycle tourism, in addition to keys to success for the development and deployment of PMUS, during a session aimed especially at elected officials and technicians of the main Town Councils of Huesca.
In addition to all this, at Bikefriendly we have been involved in other activities during this European Mobility Week, such as our participation in the lacharla debate “PMUS Jaca and active mobility to the work” in Jaca, the presentation of the “Cycle-FriendlyEmployer” certificate to the business fabric of the economic activity area of SantBoi de Llobregat, and the presentation of the “Cycling Ring of Mataró” in the Catalan town. European Sports Week: Bardena Aragonesa objective
A week later, from September 23 to 30, it is celebrated simultaneously in the 28 countries that make up the European Union the fifth European Sports Week, under the motto “Do sport, practice culture” and that each year seeks to raise awareness in society of the importance of including the sport as a healthy habit in our lives, in addition to serving as a vehicle towards other spheres such as culture, the central theme of this year.
In line with this celebration, at Bikefriendly we will have the opportunity to present at the NATUREJEA 2019 fair held in Ejea de los Gentlemen, and which has cycle tourism as its main activity, two new cycling routes in which we have collaborated in their design together with the City Council of the Aragonese town.
These two new products, called “BTT Bardena Aragonesa” and “Ruta del Románico las Cinco Villas” are part of the “Bardena Territorio Total” Project, and their purpose is to boost tourism for the Bardena Aragonese through cycle tourism.
The Aragonese Bardena comprises a territory of about 10.000 hectares that extends across three municipal areas of the province of Zaragoza, including Ejea de los Caballeros. The Romanesque route offers the opportunity to travel through the changing landscape of the Cinco Villas on roads with hardly any traffic, while being able to visit and learn about its rich heritage and biodiversity in a route of several stages.
Its rich flora and varied fauna, in addition to of course its kilometers of tracks in good condition, make this space a magical place yet to be explored, a true delight for sports lovers and especially mountain biking lovers who we hope will be able to enjoy it very soon. .
