Trip description

The cycling trip that will travel through the decisive mythical ports of the Back to Spain, and you will live live the time trial of the last day in Madrid.

Discover the Sierra de Madrid, in 4 stages. Upload ports Morcuera, Canencia, Navafría or localities Buitrago de Lozoy Rascafría in the only Bike-friendly accommodation in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.

CicloLodge is surrounded by one side of the Sierra de Guadarrama and on the other Sierra del Rincón, both spaces Biosphere Reserve. It is about unparalleled landscapes and surroundings.

What is this trip about?

It is a group trip, with a support vehicle during all the tours. On each route there will be solid and liquid supplies.
The routes will have a distance of between 70 and 120km with gradients between +1000 and +2000m. *(always adaptable to the group of participants).

Each cyclist will be able to ascend at his own pace, always regrouping when reaching the mountain passes and always accompanied by the support vehicle that will encourage us and give us strength on each climb.

From the vehicle you can refill water at any time, leave or take clothes, food, etc. In addition, the car will carry tools, pumps, spare parts...

A classic from the Sierra Norte of Madrid

From our accommodation located at the foot of both ports, you will enjoy two classic climbs of the Vuelta España: Canencia and Morcuera. Both, decisive ports in the resolution of previous editions of this great one.
A bike tour that will allow you to discover the Lozoya Valley and the Sierra de Guadarrama, its two slopes and its quiet roads that make this area one of the best places in Spain to train cycling or to carry out a beautiful cycling route.
Its Atlantic climate at the top of the ports and Mediterranean in the Valley will not leave you indifferent.

Sierra del Rincón, Biosphere Reserve

We face the hardest stage with a route of 126 kilometers and more than 2.000 meters of positive slope to get lost in the Sierra del Rincón, Biosphere Reserve.
A cycling route through La Sierra with hardly any traffic that will take us to such emblematic places as Puebla, The Hiruela o Villar Dam, among others.
We will climb three of the most mythical ports of La Sierra del Rincón: Puebla, Hiruela and Cardoso.
A leg-breaking but spectacularly beautiful terrain that turns this bike route into a demanding route for road cycling lovers.

Navafria and Villa de Pedraza

We enter the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park climbing another of the mythical of the Vuelta, the port of Navafría.
From CicloLodge we will first climb the southern slope, to reach the Villa de Pedraza, where getting lost in its streets and tasting its typical sweet, the Ponche Segoviano, with a good coffee is an essential pleasure of this outing with your group.
We will return to Lozoya ascending Navafría again, this time along its northern slope. Once crowned, enjoy a pleasant descent to CicloLodge.

Soft ride before leaving for Madrid to see the last stage of the Vuelta a España

Say goodbye to the Sierra de Madrid from the Robledos viewpoint. The panoramic view of the Valley from this point is incredible.

In the direction Port of Cotos We will enter a secondary road with a slight climb of a kilometer and a half in one of the largest fir forests in Europe, to discover at the end of the asphalt the monument to the Forest Guard and the best views of the Valley.

At 13:00 p.m. farewell meal at the hotel.

After eating, we will accompany you through the city of Madrid to see the individual time trial of the last day in the Vuelta a España.

FAQs

I have allergies or intolerances. Can you adapt the menus?

Yes, of course, at the end of the reservation, we will contact you and send you a form with some relevant questions: contact in case of emergency, allergies and intolerances, medical problems... The menus and supplies will always be adapted to your needs.

What will the group's rhythm be?

The guide will alternate rolling with everyone, but if the group stretches out, there will be times when you roll alone. That is why we will send the route tracks so that you can load them on your GPS device, or App that you use. Normally they ride in groups to the foot of the passes, where everyone ascends at their own pace. At the aid stations and stops, they regroup again.

Even though there are refreshment stations... do I have to bring my water and bars?

The best thing is that you always carry what you are used to taking: your salts, your bars... To avoid any downturn and so that you can eat and drink on the route whenever you need it. The refreshment stations will be marked at specific points and there you can refill the bottle, have a soft drink, fruit... On Saturday at noon, as the route is longer, we will make a real stop to eat. We usually bring pasta or rice salad.

How are shared rooms?

You sign up for a trip where most of you don't know each other. We will propose a room layout to share with another person, but you are free to modify it.

Where will the support vehicle be?

Normally he is close to the last ones, but he must also attend to possible breakdowns and to the first ones when they reach the heights, so that they can warm up or change their clothes.
