Seville will be the host city of the 2023 Bikefriendly Awards, the city is a state reference in bicycle promotion policies
The deadline for receiving applications for the 2023 Bikefriendly Awards is now open.
Seville has been chosen as host of the III Urban Bicycle Meeting and the 2023 Bikefriendly Awards gala for being, as explained by the Network of Cities for Bicycles (RCxB), a benchmark city in terms of infrastructure and cycling perspective
This week we open the deadline for sending applications to the Bikefriendly Awards 2023 driven by the Network of Cities for Bicycles (RcxB). At the same time, the entity has announced that Seville will be the city in which the winners will be announced in the month of March and in which the technical day of the III Urban Bicycle Meeting will take place, which on this occasion will focus on interurban cycling infrastructure.
This is the third edition of these biannual awards designed to recognize the efforts of public entities that promote projects, initiatives and/or actions aimed at promoting and facilitate daily use of the bicycle by its citizens.
As in previous editions, town councils, associations, councils and autonomous communities belonging to the Network of Cities for Bicycles that send their entries will be eligible for the Bikefriendly Awards. applications before December 30, 2022 at 15.00:XNUMX p.m..
During the month of January, the nominated entities will be announced while the winners will be announced on March 2 in Seville, at an awards gala that will be held following the III Urban Bicycle Meeting.
Categories of the Bikefriendly Awards 2023
On this occasion, the Bikefriendly Awards will recognize the efforts of public entities in eight categories:
- LEADERSHIP AND INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT. Efforts in the design and development of instruments and/or resources aimed at promoting, coordinating and/or evaluating the different actions necessary to promote the daily use of bicycles in their cities and territories.
- URBAN CYCLING INFRASTRUCTURE. Design and implementation of infrastructure and/or services necessary to guarantee cycling through the city quickly, safely, comfortably, coherently and intuitively.
- INTERURBAN CYCLING INFRASTRUCTURE. Design and implementation of infrastructure and/or services necessary to guarantee cycling quickly, safely, comfortably, coherently and intuitively, taking into account an interurban or territorial scale.
- PARKING INFRASTRUCTURE. Design and implementation of secure parking infrastructure and services for bicycles.
- EDUCATION AND PROMOTION. Development of actions in the areas of education, encouragement, communication and/or information, aimed at all citizens and aimed at combating all those barriers and prejudices that hinder the daily use of the bike.
- BICIECONOMY. Promotion and stimulation of all those economic activities related directly or indirectly to the bicycle sector, with a high impact on local economic development.
- INNOVATION. Initiatives related to the promotion of bicycle use in urban or territorial environments, which stand out for their high innovative component with the ability to resolve needs related to mobility or bicycle transportation.
- ACCELERATION. Credit to the efforts of the last two years to accelerate the development and implementation of measures to promote the use of bicycles in their territories.
