The city of Malaga will host, next 8 July, II Urban Bike Meeting and Bikefriendly Awards promoted by the Bicycle Cities Network.
II Urban Bicycle Meeting
As part of its commitment to move towards a more active and sustainable urban mobility model, the has decided to be an active part in the organization of the II Urban Bike Meeting, an event that will bring together in the city of Malaga representatives and technicians from the territories that are leading the commitment to bicycles in Spain.
El II Urban Bike Meeting and the Bikefriendly Awards will be held on the day 8 July in the iconic Albeniz Cinema, space provided by the City Council for the occasion. The meeting, which will take place throughout the morning, will be attended by representatives of the administrations adhering to the Bicycle Cities Network (RCxB), members of the Malaga Bicycle Board, the City Council's technical team and members of the municipal corporation.
Next, the Malaga City Council will organize a guided bicycle tour for those attending the Meeting and directors of the Network. During the visit, the municipal team will present the latest advances in infrastructure and services related to bicycle mobility in the city, as well as problems and future projects.
Bikefriendly Awards 2021
In the afternoon, it will be held at the Eurostars Hotel in Malaga the delivery gala of the Bikefriendly Awards 2021, recognition granted from Bikefriendly to the administrations adhered to the Network of Bicycle Cities (RCxB) that promote the best projects, initiatives and/or actions aimed at promoting and facilitating the daily use of bicycles in their territories. Furthermore, on that occasion and due to the extraordinary situation marked by COVID-19, the rapid and effective adaptation of the territories to the effects caused by the pandemic will also be assessed.
Four categories of the 2021 Bikefriendly Awards:
- Leadership and institutional commitment
- Cycling infrastructure
- Education and promotion
- Bicycle economy
In addition, four prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- Innova
- Sprinter
- 30 Days by Bike
- By bike to work

The deadline for submitting nominations for the awards will remain open. until Monday, June 28 at 23.59:XNUMX p.m.
