XV Edition of the Iberian Congress 2018 “The Bicycle and the City”
The Iberian Congress “The Bicycle and the City”, is a joint initiative of ConBici and the Portuguese Federation of Cycle Tourism and Bicycle Users (FPCUB). Its objective is to present the most important news and experiences around the bicycle as a mode of travel. Topics such as the design of bicycle lanes, school paths, cycle routes, regulations or intermodality, are some of the topics presented in this series of conferences on bicycles, which began in 1996.
The XV edition of the Iberian Congress 2018 It will be held in València, “Ciutat genteel”, between May 16 and 20.
Achieving a friendly city, with less noise, with more green spaces, for social use and with fewer cars, involves including citizens in the urban transformation, with Congress being a key element in this collective reflection.

Some “Friendly Axes” on which the congress is based, designed to address the urban complexity in which the bicycle must be inserted. We must understand the relationship established between citizenship, urban planning and mode of travel, to achieve this much-needed metamorphosis.
III Meeting of Women Cyclists
With the III Meeting of Women Cyclists On May 19 and 20, the issue of gender is introduced in Congress in a transversal way, in an attempt to reduce the gender gap that still exists around the bicycle and in our society, trying to grow the special energy that It has occurred in the two previous meetings.
The visibility of the needs, rights and spaces of women in our society has had a development that coincides very closely with the evolution of the bicycle throughout history. We must continue pedaling to achieve real equality.
