El Sant Boi Town Hall is present for the first time in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which celebrates its 17th edition in Madrid from January 21 to 38. The city wants to take advantage of these days to present itself to operators in the sector as a tourist destination with a future in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
Since the month of November, Sant Boi has had a Tourism Plan whose objective is to attract visitors over the next few years, taking advantage of the process of decentralization of tourism from Barcelona to the metropolitan area. Sant Boi believes in its tourism potential, linked to a city brand based on health, well-being and the practice of physical activity.
The city has a very good geographical location (close to the city of Barcelona, airport and exhibition facilities), has the best air quality indexes in its surroundings and enjoys a privileged nature (forest, agricultural and river), ideal for the practice of physical activity, for example, cycling. The City Council has been invited to FITUR for Bikefriendly, a pioneering project linked precisely to the promotion of cycle tourism and that collaborates with the Sant Boi City Council in the design of its “Urban Bike Strategy”. The municipality has more than 30 km of rural roads that can be explored on foot or by bicycle.
The mayor of Sant Boi, Lluïsa Moret, and the Councilor for Commerce, Tourism and Fairs, Elena Amat, have visited the Bikefriendly stand at FITUR on its opening day.
Sant Boi wants to take advantage of its presence at this prestigious international fair, the main showcase for state tourism, to publicize its assets and tourism potential, attracting initiatives that allow the development of a catalog of its own tourism products.
