The Mancomunitat of Municipalities of L'Alcoia and the Comtat has presented this morning at its headquarters the collaboration agreement established with Bikefriendly Group to develop the strategy to promote cycle tourism in the region, which will culminate with its certification as 'Bike-friendly territory'. The event was attended by Manuel Gomicia, President of the Mancomunitat, and Raúl Villacampa, President of Bikefriendly Group.
The main objective of the project is to value all the resources of the Mancomunitat of L'Alcoià i el Comtat to promote the use of bicycles as an alternative to visit the area, deseasonalize tourist activity and increase the number of visitors through a social, economic and environmentally sustainable cycle tourism proposal.
In a first phase, of analysis of supply and demand, the resources and opportunities of the territory for the development and consolidation of cycle tourism, also defining the profile of the cycle tourist in each area. Secondly, they will create open and collaborative work spaces with territorial agents to generate and share ideas about potential tourism products. Finally, a value proposition will be designed for the target markets, as well as the strategy to promote the territory as a Bikefriendly destination, ensuring that existing resources, services and infrastructure have the potential to meet the needs and expectations of cycle tourists. Strategic Cycle Tourism Plan part of the Tourism Competitiveness Plan on which the Mancomunitat is working and is framed within the three main axes of action on the territory: the economy developed by tourism, the environment and the improvement of infrastructure and communication between the populations that comprise it.
