Do you want to compete for the European Mobility Week awards? We tell you how
European Mobility Week takes place every year between September 16 and 22.
Organized by the Directorate General of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, this initiative seeks to improve the quality of life in cities by promoting active mobility and sustainable means of transport.
The title of this year's campaign is 'Zero emissions mobility for all' and there are already more than 300 municipalities registered from all over Europe and more than 2.400 mobility actions registered by companies, NGOs and educational centers.
Registration of town councils
To participate, cities must register actions aimed at promoting sustainable urban mobility in one of the three proposed areas:
- Week of activities: organization of a week of activities that promote public transport or active or sustainable mobility.
- Permanent measures: implement or promote permanent infrastructure that favors the use of sustainable means of transport.
- Car Free Day: Promote a car-free day (preferably September 22) by closing one or more streets to cars and, in return, opening them to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Cities that register actions in the three areas will be designated 'Gold' category and will opt for the European Mobility Week awards.
In the 2019 European Mobility Week campaign, 3.135 cities from 50 countries participated and in 2020 there are already 306 registered cities.
Companies, NGOs and educational centers
Any company, association or educational center that is promoting actions to promote sustainable urban mobility can register its #MobilityAction through the official website of the European Mobility Week.
Whether it is a community of neighbors that has decided commuting to work by bicycle, or a company that motivates its employees to do so, you can present your project and, if chosen, it will enjoy visibility and you can compete for the Mobility Week awards.
