The Bikefriendly Awards are intended to recognize the effort carried out by the public entities attached to the Network of Cities for the Bicyclea (RCxB) to promote projects, initiatives and/or actions aimed at promoting and facilitating the daily use of bicycles.
Furthermore, on that occasion and due to the extraordinary situation marked by COVID-19, the rapid and effective adaptation of the territories to the effects caused by the pandemic will also be assessed.
All people may be beneficiaries of the Bikefriendly Awards. Town Councils, Associations and Provincial Councils who have sent their applications by email to info@bikefriendly.com before Monday, June 28 at 23.59:XNUMX p.m..
Categories of the Bikefriendly Awards 2021
The 2021 Bikefriendly Awards consist of four categories in which a single distinction will be granted for each of them:
LEADERSHIP AND INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT: this category will recognize the efforts used by public institutions to develop and design resources aimed at promoting, coordinating and evaluating actions that encourage the use of bicycles.
CYCLING INFRASTRUCTURE: this recognition will value the infrastructure design and implementation to ensure cycling through the city quickly, comfortably and intuitively.
EDUCATION AND PROMOTION: in this category the development of actions in the areas of education, encouragement and information with the objective of combat those barriers that hinder the daily use of bicycles by citizens.
BICIECONOMY: this award will recognize the drive of all those related economic activities, directly or indirectly, with the bicycle sector.
In the 2021 edition of the Bikefriendly Awards, the following four second prizes will also be awarded:
INNOVA: initiatives related to the use of bicycles in urban environments and that stand out for their high level of innovation.
SPRINTER: merit to the efforts of Public Administrations to develop measures to extend the use of bicycles in their territories.
#30DAYSENBICI: recognition of the territory adhered to the Manifesto “30 Days by Bike” which has attracted more users to the #30DíasEnBici challenge
BY BIKE TO WORK: projects aimed at facilitating and motivating the use of the bike to access centers that generate mobility to work.
Each territory may submit only one application per category and as long as its project has been developed between January 2019 and May 2021. The deadline for submitting applications ends on June 28, 2021.
Delivery ceremony and II Urban Bicycle Meeting
The Bikefriendly Awards ceremony promoted by the Network of Cities for Bicycles (RCxB) will be held on July 8, 2021 in the city of Malaga.
It will consist of a dinner to which the representatives of the member territories of the Network will be invited and which will take place after the celebration of the II Urban Bicycle Meeting.
The Urban Bicycle Meeting will take place that same morning and will consist of an event open to the public in which the presentations, round tables related to innovation in the sector of promoting cycle mobility. There will also be exhibition space for companies in the bicycle sector.
In the afternoon, representatives of territories and organizations attending will be invited to a technical bicycle tour of the city of Malaga and there will also take place the Board of Directors of the Bicycle Cities Network.
