These months of November and December, the results and conclusions derived from the diagnosis in the cycle tourism field, the opportunities and potential of the territory and the future lines of work, which will be worked on in the coming years.
Main goal
The main objective of the project is the identification and enhancement of all the cycling tourism assets and potential of the Regions of La Jacetania and Alto Gállego and the municipalities of Jaca and Sabiñánigo to:
. Complement the current territorial active tourism offer
. Attract new profiles of tourists
. Deseasonalize winter tourism activity
. Increase the number of visitors through a sustainable quality, social, economic and environmental cycling tourism proposal.
Some of the aspects to take into account, as conclusions obtained through the Territorial Diagnosis, are:
Use of bicycles in protected natural areas
Analysis of the value chain. Coordinated work between the different territorial agents is very important.
Ski resorts: successful non-active products. It would be interesting to resume initiatives that have been taking place in recent years without great success, due to the lack of coordination between public and private agents.
It is very important that tourist accommodation work towards a competitive advantage over other destinations that do not have a developed specialization in cycle tourism.
A correct analysis of the demand must be carried out, generating a cycle tourism product oriented to the characteristics of these tourist profiles.
Studying the current flow of cycling, we see that the main flows of cyclists are concentrated around the road and routes of the Pirineos Alto Gállego BTT center, and the city of Jaca, highlighting the route of the Gran Fondo Quebrantahuesos. It is essential to enhance positioning and branding by relying on these levers.
When analyzing the range of routes in the area, we see that there is a wide variety of well-marked mountain bike routes, with a sporty and non-family profile and a great use of secondary roads without having a network of road routes as such. It is important to develop a route offer important that the environment in which we are located allows us, focusing on the homogeneity of the design, the levels of difficulty and signaling thereof, especially at the family level.
Regarding the tourist resources that the area has, it is worth highlighting:
Parks and Natural Reserves that allow competitions and/or MTB or road sports cycle rides with high landscape quality
Historical resources which greatly attract European cycle tourists who highly value territorial heritage when planning their trip.
Gastronomic resources.
Cycle sports events and competitions of great national and international renown that can serve as a commercial lever throughout the year, generating tourist packages related to these marches.
As a result of the analysis of the brand's positioning as a cycle tourism destination, we believe that it would be necessary to work on a branding strategy that manages to position both regions in the minds of both the main TTOO and AAVV and the end customer, as a new cycle tourism destination.
The next steps that should be followed would be:
- Work on the increase and improvement of the route network and infrastructure improvement plan linked to these cycle tourism routes.
- Training and awareness program for agents for their specialization.
- Generation of new cycle tourism products.
- Cycle Tourism Promotion Plan at territorial level.
