An event that aims to debate the transformation of small and medium-sized cities to address the challenge of sustainability as a whole, and which has Bikefriendly Group as a sponsor.
The Alcoy City Council and the Alcoy Campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia , through the "Alcoy City of Knowledge" and "Smart City Alcoy" chairs, are organizing the 'Small & Medium Smart Cities' Congress (http://www.smartcitiesalcoy.es/) , which will be held in the city of Alcoy on February 14 and 15 , 2018. This event will bring together specialists from various locations across Spain who are already developing projects aimed at transforming their cities into smart cities . The main objective of the congress is to foster the ongoing debate on the transformation of small and medium-sized cities to address the challenge of sustainability as a whole. To this end, this forum will feature the participation of prominent speakers such as Francisco Rincón, Sustainable Cities Manager at Siemens, Fernando Espigas, Director of Transformation and Emerging Technologies at Fundación Tecnalia Research & Innovation, Cosmin Koch, R&D&I Researcher at Acciona Agua, Sergio Pomar, President of Fenie Energía, Enrique Martínez, Coordinator of the National Smart Cities Plan in Spain , and Sergio Serna, General Director of Bikefriendly Group , among other experts.
The venues chosen for the congress are the Ágora Space at Alcoy City Hall, where the entire first day and the morning session of the second will take place, and the Alcoy Campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia , where the closing debate will be held on the afternoon of the 15th, featuring Cristina Garmendia, President of COTEC; Ximo Puig, President of the Valencian Government; Antonio Francés, Mayor of Alcoy; and Eduardo Vendrell Vidal, Vice-Rector for Studies, Quality, and Accreditation at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Alcoy , the host city for this first national congress on 'Small & Medium Smart Cities' , is characterized by a strong industrial presence. Its long-standing textile and metallurgical tradition is now complemented by a significant agri-food and cosmetics industry, with a strong focus on design and innovation.
