30 days by bike (30daysofbiking) is a citizen movement whose mission is to promote the daily use of the bicycle as a means of transportation
The strategy to achieve a global community of happy cyclists all year round is based on habit, on daily practice. The initiative #30DaysOfBiking offers the challenge of using the bicycle, at least for a little while, and making friends around it, every day of the month of April. The promoter of this movement in Spain comes from Gijón and his name is Carlos Rodríguez.
One fine day, my friend Carlos arrived at Madrid and managed to tame the fierce activist inside me. She activated me, “positively.” I came up with the idea of handing out a fun and healthy banana to all the cyclists I met on the way to work or traveling through the city.. It was a reward for their efforts and, at the same time, a way to connect with those anonymous cyclists that you meet every day and whom you don't even greet.
At first, they were surprised and looked at the banana tree with distrust. But, once the ice was broken, they ended up taking photos. I called the initiative ThePlátanoMADTour and I distributed a tasty box every three days courtesy of several wholesalers of Aplamadrid.
One of the great values of this type of challenge is that you end up involving many people from the cycling world, both from your surroundings and from other locations. I told Eduardo, about Mihatra, that I was going to need a little help and made a E glider. That pedal-assisted bicycle, with solar panniers filled with bananas, was the sensation in that April of bananas and a thousand rains.
For this year, I would like to have the participation of the Madrid City Council and that of all of you...
Do you join the banana challenge?
