The Association of Brands and Bicycles of Spain and the Bikefriendly business group sign a strategic agreement to help the sector at a time when business collaboration has been shown to be the best tool to achieve great achievements.
The agreement will make it possible to highlight the role of cycle tourism and bicycle mobility as ways of sustainable economic development and sources of employment and wealth.
The Spanish Association of Bicycle Brands ( AMBE ) and the Bikefriendly group have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the use of bicycles as a way to travel in Spain and thus help the sector at a particularly delicate time.
Both organizations are committed to promoting the advantages and economic benefits of cycle tourism to public and private institutions in the country. Ultimately, the aim is to prevent, as far as possible, any setbacks in the post-coronavirus quarantine scenario for a sector that has more than proven its economic, social, and environmental benefits. This is especially true in terms of reducing the seasonality of tourist destinations , combating rural depopulation, and promoting more sustainable tourism models.
Hotel and destination specialization
AMBE will publicize the need to move towards hotel and destination models specializing in cycle tourism in order to guarantee compliance with certain quality standards.
The more rigorous the destinations and services are in this regard, the greater the chances of designing tourism products that can truly function as engines of economic development. In this sense, AMBE identifies the Bikefriendly Quality Seal as the benchmark certification in the sector.
As a consultancy specialized in cycle tourism, Bikefriendly works by creating itineraries adapted to the needs of each accommodation and territory, promoting the business possibilities of the rest of the agents operating in the area.
CFE Certificate
At the same time, AMBE and Bikefriendly will work hand in hand to promote the use of bicycles in the business sector and encourage all types of Spanish companies to obtain the Cycle Friendly Employer certificate .
This certificate, recognized at the European level, highlights the effort made by workplaces to facilitate and encourage cycling to work among their employees and also to move towards the implementation of models based on cycle logistics.
In Spain, Bikefriendly is the company selected by the European Cyclists' Federation to conduct audits and award certifications to businesses. Both Bikefriendly and AMBE believe that promoting this certification will encourage the everyday use of bicycles and directly benefit brands, manufacturers, and other companies operating within the cycling sector.
The more companies that promote cycling , the more people will travel by bicycle in their daily lives, and the demand for their products and services will increase.
Cycle tourism association
This agreement between AMBE and Bikefriendly also aims to promote and support the creation of an association of economic agents related to cycle tourism.
This association aims to give the sector its own voice, strong enough to be heard by public institutions and to participate in national decision-making. It will include hotel chains, sports event organizers, bicycle rental companies, travel agencies, specialized technology service companies , and any economic agent working in areas related to cycle tourism.
AMBE, as an association representing and protecting the interests of the Spanish cycling industry, is thus joining forces with the Bikefriendly business group with the goal of helping to strengthen the business fabric of cycle tourism as well.
Both entities will collaborate to give visibility to the sector, promoting collaboration between administrations, the private sector, fair institutions, trade promotion organizations and sports federations.
Furthermore, they will cooperate to advise and guide all those administrations or companies that want to promote their area as a cycling tourism destination, providing personalized support in terms of product development, adaptation of infrastructure and services, marketing, image and tourism promotion.
