The City Council of Ejea de los Caballeros (Zaragoza) has hired the consultant Bikefriendly Consulting to promote tourism in the Aragonese Bardena, a territory of great ecological and environmental interest that covers some 10.000 hectares and houses in its interior a Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA) or with a Place of Community Importance (LIC), in the surroundings of the La Negra hill.
Provide the Bardena Aragonese Visitor Center of relevant activities for tourists is the key objective to propose an attractive value proposition in the territory. Among these activities is cycle tourism, which will help promote tourism in the area, deseasonalize tourist activity and increase the number of visitors. All this, taking into account the environmental, social and economic sustainability of the environment.
The draft Bikefriendly Consulting for Ejea of the Knights and Aragonese Bardena It consists of various phases. Firstly, the analysis of the current situation of the territory in relation to tourism. Next, awareness and coordination with the territory's tourism agents to promote tourism. Thirdly, the definition of a promotion and communication plan for the Bardena Aragonesa-Ejea de los Caballeros. And, finally, verification that the resources, services and infrastructure of the area have the necessary potential to satisfy the needs of tourists through appropriate tourism products.
For this reason, the project tasks will be carried out for all those agents of the territory (public and private), tourist resources, infrastructures, etc... that are limited within the geographical scope of all the municipalities that make up the Aragonese Bardena, also known as ‘Black Bardena’ due to the predominant population of Aleppo pine in the area and which gives it its darker appearance. Aragonese Bardena It extends across three municipal areas of the province of Zaragoza, including that of Ejea of the Knights. It is a territory of great ecological and environmental interest, where different spaces are distinguished such as steppe areas, espartal areas, bushes, forests closed by pine forests, ravines and cliffs. The perfect habitat for species such as the eagle owl, Egyptian vulture, griffon vulture, rock martin, bee-eater, wheatear, swift and golden eagle, among others.
