Castellón, a rebellious and fascinating cycling territory

Castellón is the ideal territory for lovers of cycling, festivals, the best cultural and natural environments, the best local gastronomy and, as is well known in international tourism, one of the best climates in the entire national territory.

The cyclist not only lives by pedaling, the cyclist also likes good music, visiting corners with intriguing past stories or relaxing in a good spa after a hard workout.. CASTELLON It is this and much more: virgin nature, sea, mountains, gastronomy and some of the most surprising and beautiful towns in Spain.

Festivals: for the most restless

Castellón, mecca of summer music festivals, offers us the possibility of combining days of cycling and the beach, with nights of music and fun.

La festival season in the province it officially begins with the Feslloch at the beginning of July and ends with the Benicàssim Electrònic Festival (BEF) at the end of August.

La Arena Sound, on the beach of “El Arenal” with established artists and the best DJs in the world, as an exclusive festival held on the same beach; The FIB – Benicàssim International Festival, which since 1995 has brought together the best of the world's independent scene, or the Rototom Sunsplash, an unmissable destination for the most faithful followers of reggae, are some of the most important Festivals in the province.

For lovers of the most medieval

Some of the municipalities of Castellón contain a rich cultural heritage. A legacy that is shown in a very accessible way thanks to initiatives such as the Tourist and Cultural Project of the Temple Route, which will allow us to discover, on foot or by bicycle through interpretive trails, the municipalities of Peñíscola, Culla and Alclà de Xivert.

We recommend visiting the Xivert and Pulpis castles, standing out for its altitudinal and strategic position in the control of communication routes and defense of the territories.

Discovering unknown lands

Castellón is, despite being coastal, the second most mountainous province in Spain and in it is the Pico de Penyagolosa, which with a height of 1813 meters, is the roof of the Valencian Community.

The attractiveness of the inland Castellón lands deserves a special mention, since it means discovering an environment of enormous attraction, both for its rugged geography and for the uniqueness of its traditions and culture.

If we add the four mountain bike centers in the towns of Morella, Navajas and Montanejos in the interior and Torreblanca on the coast, with more than 1500 cycleable km of signposted mountain bike routes, plus the traditions and festivals of each locality, we will discover a new Castellón that will surprise us.

Leisure activities of astonishing interest such as the Music Week and the Medieval Market of Morella, the Ciudad de Navajas International Concert Series, the Segorbe Valencian Music Choral Festival or the representation of the Western Schism in San Mateu and exceptional gastronomy, will be the perfect cherry on top of our bike trip through the Costa de Azahar.
