What began as a hobby has become his job. Maxi left his previous job, where he was stuck in an office for hours on end, for a new project full of adrenaline and sport. Bicycle touring, one of his passions, went from being his weekend activity to his everyday work.
How was that change of job in search of more passion?
They called me crazy, especially my family. I was bored in my previous job: everything was predictable, I knew what was going to happen the next day. I didn't like it, I had no reason to keep doing it. So I traded everything for cycling and creating these multi-stage routes.
A nature enthusiast who makes it his job…
I'm always out and about and love nature, both on a bike and hiking. My favorite thing is running in the mountains, but I also love cycling. This is the sport I like best, the one that takes place outdoors and in the mountains. I always say that if exercise was just going to the gym, I wouldn't move and I'd have a big belly. Being physically strong allows me to explore every corner and maintain my adventurous mood.

What do you need to know about Fuerteventura as a cycling destination?
It's the biggest surprise. Fuerteventura is even drier than Lanzarote; it's practically an extension of the Sahara. I've fallen in love with it as I've been developing it, and many clients tell us they like Fuerteventura even more than Lanzarote. We've realized it has something that makes it different: you get the feeling that the world has ended, because of its desolation; you don't even know where you are. It's something very hard to find in our world.
The ocean crashing on empty beaches and the endless desert… People are amazed. Compared to what you see on the peninsula, it's something completely different. A contrast between the volcanoes and the usual green of Spain. It's a place unlike anything you'll find anywhere else.
