Asturias has charisma within the stages of La Vuelta. The stages in Asturias are always characterised by those hard mountain passes that make the spectators vibrate and the riders suffer…
Our aim, with this road cycling trip in Asturias, is to take you to see these well-known and mythical mountain passes that every cycling enthusiast should do once in their life.
For this trip we have designed three stages that include three essential attractions for any cyclist visiting Asturias: Lagos de Covadonga, for its spectacular scenery, for the first day; the great Gamoniteiro and the Sierra de Aramo for the second day… and the Anglirú (optional), epic for its hardness.
Sign up for this group ride in Asturias and enjoy what you love the most, cycling, while you meet other cycling enthusiasts.
The first stage of the trip starts in Colunga, heading towards the Mirador del Fito viewpoint with beautiful views of the coast at all times. This is a very special route, well known to many cyclists because of the two climbs we are going to do.
At the top, at the Mirador de Fito viewpoint, we can enjoy spectacular views of the whole area of the Sierra del Sueve. A perfect combination of mountain and coast of Asturias, always with the Picos de Europa in the background.
The descent from Fito will take us to Arriondas, where we can see the Roman Bridge of Cangas de Onís. Afterwards, we will go up to Santina de Covadonga, from where the ascent to Lagos de Covadonga starts.
The return will be very pleasant until Ribadesella, Camino del Norte to Colunga.
A pure mountain stage with the two big climbs: Alto de la Cobertoria and El Gamoniteiro. A great stage that will give us the thrill of a real mountain stage. The first part of the ascent to La Cobertoria with constant ramps of 10-12% and the stretch that leads us to El Gamoniteiro where we will have ramps up to 17%. Of course, the fantastic views will make the tough climb worthwhile.

The third and last stage runs through the municipalities of Riosa and Pola de Lena, with a climb to the Alto del Cordal (parallel to the Angliru). It is a bearable climb, long but with very easy ramps. Our recommendation for the bravest cyclists is that they dare to climb the Angliru, one of the toughest mountain passes in Asturias and one that is part of the history of the sport.
