Tracks Cerdanya Family
Description
Taking advantage of the gentle slope of the Cerdanya valley, we have created this route for the whole family to enjoy two or three days of mountain biking … and the river, horses, swings, thermal baths, boat trips, farms, and stone villages.
With the Tracks Cerdanya Family, you'll explore the entire valley from end to end, from the highest mountains of Font Romeu to the lowest point in Bellver or Martinet, on an easy and fun route, with all the usual comforts of Tracks Bikefriendly routes : luggage transport between accommodations, monitoring during the route, assistance in case of breakdown or abandonment, transfers to the start and end of the route, etc.
The Tracks Cerdanya Family route is designed for families with children aged 8 and up. We've prepared two routes of 68 km and 89 km, which you can complete in two or three stages respectively, with stages of approximately 30 km per day and less than 300 m of elevation gain. However, if you feel up to tackling longer routes, we also have an extended version with stages of 40 km and up to 450 m of elevation gain per day.
This isn't a greenway, and children need a minimum level of balance and mountain biking skills. However, the constant mix of different trails and tracks makes the route very fun and anything but monotonous.
Go for it family!

A former architect, he is now a mountaineer, mountain bike guide, PMBI instructor, and IMBA technician. Based in Cerdanya, he leads the BikeFriendly Tracks in the Eastern Pyrenees and the Costa Brava.
A lover of trails and trials (better if they're downhill than uphill), and like any self-respecting cyclist, he always has all the bikes he needs plus one, although he's not entirely sure whether the one he needs more than enough is a fatbike, a road bike, a gravel bike, an ebike, an enduro bike, or a fixie.
FAQ
Ideal bike: Any mountain bike that has been serviced and is ready for this adventure. You can also do the route with a rear child seat. And we can adapt it to accommodate a trailer if you want to do it with even younger children.
Tires: The type of tire isn't particularly important. What is important, however, is the wheel diameter. We recommend bikes with a minimum diameter of 20 inches, which will allow you to easily handle the typical obstacles found on any mountain trail.
Navigation: The route is followed using a GPS track. The organizers also provide participants with technical information sheets for all stages, a map of the route, and useful information and tips for the days of the hike.
Best time to go: The route can be done from May to November, but the best times are undoubtedly spring (with hundreds of streams and lush scenery) and autumn (with the changing leaves). Summer heat is quite bearable, and during the rest of the season, don't forget that Cerdanya is the region in Catalonia with the most hours of sunshine per year! This is a mountain route, so your equipment and preparation should be appropriate. We always recommend carrying some warm clothing and a good raincoat in case the weather changes mid-afternoon.
Trail type: Easy tracks and paths, combined with paved sections without traffic. However, this is not a greenway, and children should have a minimum level of mountain biking experience.
Philosophy: It is a self-guided and non-competitive tour; the important thing is to enjoy the bicycle, the secondary roads and forest tracks, the high mountain landscape and the gastronomy.
Luggage transfer: Hiring this service is highly recommended so you can forget about your luggage and focus on the adventure. The price depends on the number of people and the number of stages in the route.
Mechanical assistance: The organization offers roadside support.
Supplies: Each stage passes through one or more villages where you can stop for food and water. However, you can also hire a supply service.
