Tracks Astures is a multi-stage MTB route in Asturias, circular in nature, designed to discover by mountain bike one of the most authentic territories in northern Spain. A journey that combines trails, tracks and paths in an environment where nature, culture and gastronomy are part of the experience.

The tour takes place in the well-known cider regionA privileged area that boasts some of Asturias' most iconic landscapes. Along the route, you'll cycle on paths and trails that connect emblematic places such as Cangas de Onis, gateway to the Picos de Europa, Arriondas, starting point of the International Descent of the Sella, or Nava, considered the cider capital of the region.

The route continues along Villaviciosa and its Estuary Nature Reserve, as well as along the coast to GijónThe capital of the Costa Verde, offering a constant contrast between mountains, inland areas, and sea. Part of the route follows historical sections such as the the Camino de Santiago or the traditional paths to Covadongaadding cultural value to the trip.

In the option of 4 stagesThe itinerary is planned in a more intense way, concentrating the best of the route into more complete days, ideal for cyclists looking for a demanding experience without sacrificing the variety of landscapes.

From Arriondas, the route gradually heads inland, approaching the area of ​​the Picos de Europawhere the landscape becomes more mountainous and the trails and tracks wind through forests and valleys. As the route progresses, it connects with iconic landmarks such as Cangas de Onis, one of the key points of the trip and gateway to the Picos.

The journey continues towards the cider region, passing through rural areas where tradition and landscape go hand in hand, passing through towns such as Nava or Villaviciosa, in an environment where natural paths and trails between meadows and forests predominate.

In the final section, the route opens towards the coast, reaching the area of Gijón and the Green Coastwhere the contrast between sea and mountains adds a different dimension to the journey. From here, the route returns inland, completing the circular route.

Ideal bike
Without a doubt, a rigid bike with large developments.
Versatile tires are the most appropriate, as there are many different surfaces (rock slabs, paths, steps, tracks, loose rock sections, cobblestones, singletrack, etc.). This is an area with a lot of vegetation and fairly narrow trails: local bikers use tubeless tires or inner tubes with sealant.
The route is tracked using a GPS tracker. The organizers also provide participants with a route map with points of interest along the stages, including restaurants, accommodations, etc.
It can be done year-round, but summer and autumn are the most pleasant seasons. Summer has very pleasant temperatures, but the route is largely shaded, along paths and bushwalks.
There are plenty of trails and paths, both uphill and downhill. Depending on your technical skills and strength, the route is 95% rideable. There are some uphill sections and downhill sections that, we imagine, are only accessible to bikers with names like Hermida, Oulego & Co.
This is a self-guided, non-competitive tour; the important thing is to enjoy the Asturian landscape.
