Circular route from Esterri d'Aneu.

You set the pace. Tracks Pallars is designed to be done in 3 or 4 stages.

4-stage option itinerary:

Stage 1: Esterri d'Aneu – Ribera de Cardòs

The stage primarily consists of leaving Esterri d'Aneu and descending into the Ribera de Cardos valley. Passing through various high-altitude passes, this is the wildest stage in terms of scenery due to the locations it passes through. We'll end the day with a long 6km descent to the stage finish.

Stage 2: Ribera de Cardòs – Alins

This stage is also very beautiful in terms of scenery. We'll pass through the Pla de Negua area, a great panoramic balcony between the two most emblematic valleys in the region: the Cardos Valley and the famous Vallfarrera. After an iconic climb in the morning that takes us to the villages of Arros and Esterri de Cardos, as well as Ainet, we'll end the day in Vallfarrera.

Stage 3: Alins – Llavorsi

The most fun stage of the entire route, in terms of trails. We'll pass through large, expansive forests, parts of which are Nordic ski resorts in winter. We'll have the chance to eat at a mountain refuge along the route, and finally, we'll enjoy one of the most exciting descents of the entire route, a long descent that will take us to the village of Llavorsi.

Stage 4: Llavorsi – Esterri d'Aneu

A return leg, but without missing a beat. The return to Esterri d'Aneu takes place over a pass called "Cuco," a vast, little-traveled forest. Passing through small mountain villages, we descend to the Guingueta reservoir, where we return along its banks until we reach Esterri d'Aneu once again. This is the end of this purely Pyrenean and high-mountain route.

FAQs

Ideal bike: Any mountain bike (MTB). The choice will depend on each individual's priorities: lighter weight (hardtail) or greater comfort and enjoyment on descents (full-suspension). The e-bike option is rapidly growing among users.

Tires: Versatile tires are the most appropriate, as there are many different surfaces (rock slabs, paths, steps, tracks, loose rock sections, cobblestones, singletrack, etc.). This is an area with a lot of vegetation and fairly narrow trails: local bikers use tubeless tires or inner tubes with sealant.

Orientation: A self-guided route with the aid of a non-competitive GPS is a delightful way for mountain biking enthusiasts to enjoy the trail. It offers a variety of landscapes, including mountains, valleys, and rivers, along with excellent cuisine and the local culture.

Best time: From May 15th to the end of October (always depending on snow conditions). In August, check hotel availability. This is a high-mountain route, so your equipment and travel plans must match the route. We always recommend carrying a good raincoat, as the temperature in the valley at the highest altitudes varies drastically. The weather is also changeable in summer.

Type of roads: The climbs are long and sustained but rideable, almost always on paths. The descents are full of trails and less technical trails. But if you're more technical or enduro enthusiastic, don't worry; the route has excellent trails and specific sections for MTB, some technical, others less so. The route is 100% rideable. However, individual technique is always decisive when it comes to continuing or dismounting the bike at a given point.

Philosophy: This is a self-guided, non-competitive tour; the important thing is to enjoy mountain biking in its purest form.

Luggage transport: Given the technical nature of the route, it is highly recommended to book this service. The price depends on the number of people and the stages of the route.

Mechanical assistance: The organization offers roadside support services (not included in the quote).

Supplies: This is one of the spots worth paying attention to because there are few food options along the route. The best option is a picnic.
