Cycle through castles, mountains, and sea. Discover the Maestrat region by mountain bike.

Description

Tracks Maestrat is one of the most comprehensive multi-stage MTB routes in the Mediterranean, traversing one of the most authentic and surprising territories: the Maestrat region and the Els Ports area . Cycling through these lands is to immerse yourself in a landscape where history, nature, and cycling are constantly intertwined.

Few mountain bike routes allow you to travel in just a few days from the forests and mountains of the Maestrat region to the Mediterranean coast, passing Templar castles and medieval villages. This journey, where mountains, history, and the Mediterranean intertwine on the bike, reveals hidden gems like Catí , Sant Mateu , and the impressive walled city of Morella. Descend to the Mediterranean at Alcossebre, passing by the spectacular Peñíscola Castle , one of the iconic landmarks of the Valencian coast.

The route combines forest tracks, historic paths, and sections of trail, allowing riders to fully enjoy cycling in a rich natural and cultural environment. At certain points, the route also passes through towns with a wealth of heritage, such as Culla and Ares del Maestrat , two of the most spectacular medieval villages in the region, perched on natural promontories overlooking the landscapes of inland Castellón. It's ideal for those seeking a complete mountain biking experience that goes beyond the sporting challenge.

The stages typically range from 45 to 60 kilometers, with elevation gains between 1.000 and 1.500 meters, making Tracks Maestrat a perfect option for those seeking a multi-stage mountain bike route in Castellón that combines sporting challenge, adventure, and stunning scenery. Designed by local professionals with in-depth knowledge of the region, the route strikes a balance between cycling, culture, and nature, offering a complete mountain bike touring experience in the Maestrat region.

The routes can be adapted to the technical and physical level of the group , allowing both experienced bikers and cyclists who prefer a more relaxed pace to enjoy the ride. Some variations incorporate more singletrack and elevation gain for those seeking a greater technical challenge, while others prioritize smoother, rolling trails for leisurely exploring the area.

Beyond the sporting challenge, Tracks Maestrat is also a journey through the history and identity of this region. Templar castles, medieval villages, secluded hermitages, and traditional agricultural landscapes accompany cyclists throughout the route. Passing through places like Sant Mateu or the area around the Balneario de l'Avellà spa adds a cultural and heritage component that transforms each stage into more than just a bike ride. And, as is typical in the Mediterranean, the experience is complemented by local cuisine, where inland Castellón produce provides the perfect finishing touch to each day. Tracks Maestrat is, in short, one of the most comprehensive MTB routes in the interior of the Valencian Community , a cycling journey that connects sea and mountains and allows you to discover the Maestrat region in the most authentic way: by pedaling.
