Tracks Cerdanya Family
Description
Taking advantage of the gentle slope of the Cerdanya valley, we have created this A route to enjoy two or three days of all-terrain biking with the whole family…and the river, the horses, the swings, the hot springs, the boat rides, the farms, the stone villages.
With the Tracks Cerdanya Family you will travel from end to end of the entire valley, from the highest mountains of Font Romeu, to the lowest point in Bellver or Martinet, in a Easy and fun route, with all the usual amenities of Tracks Bikefriendly routes: luggage transport between accommodations, follow-up during the route, assistance in case of breakdown or abandonment, transfers at the start and end of the route, etc.
La Tracks Cerdanya Family It is designed for families with children aged 8 and over. For this purpose, we have prepared Two routes of 68 km and 89 km that you can complete in two or three stages respectively, with stages of approximately 30 km per day and less than 300 m of elevation gain. However, if you feel up to tackling longer routes, we also have an extended version with 40 km stages and up to 450 m of elevation gain per day.
This is not a greenway, and children must have a minimum level of balance and skill in mountain biking. However, constant combination of all types of trails and tracks, make the route very fun and not at all monotonous.

Adam Grifoll
A former architect, he is now a mountaineer, mountain bike guide, PMBI instructor, and IMBA technician. Based in Cerdanya, he leads the BikeFriendly Tracks in the Eastern Pyrenees and the Costa Brava.
A lover of trails and trials (better if they're downhill than uphill), and like any self-respecting cyclist, he always has all the bikes he needs plus one, although he's not entirely sure whether the one he needs more than enough is a fatbike, a road bike, a gravel bike, an ebike, an enduro bike, or a fixie.
FAQs
Ideal bike: Any mountain bike inspected and prepared for this adventure. The route can also be done with a rear child seat. We can also adapt it to accommodate a stroller if you want to take even younger children.
Tires: The type of tire isn't particularly important, but the wheel diameter is. We recommend bikes with a minimum diameter of 20 inches, which will allow you to easily overcome the typical obstacles found on any mountain trail.
Orientation: The route is tracked using a GPS tracker. The organizers also provide participants with technical information for all stages, a route map, and useful information and tips throughout the route.
Best time: The route can be done from May to November, with the best seasons undoubtedly being spring (with hundreds of streams and lush landscapes) and autumn (with the falling leaves). In summer, the heat is very bearable, and during the rest of the season, don't forget that Cerdanya is the region in Catalonia with the most hours of sunshine per year! This is a mountain route, and your equipment and preparation must be appropriate for the route. We always recommend carrying some warm clothing and a good raincoat in case the weather changes mid-afternoon.
Type of roads: Easy trails and paths, combined with traffic-free paved sections. However, this is not a greenway, and children should have at least some mountain biking experience.
Philosophy: This is a self-guided, non-competitive tour; the focus is on enjoying the bike, the secondary roads and forest trails, the high mountain scenery, and the food.
Luggage transport: It's highly recommended to book this service so you can forget about your luggage and focus on the adventure. The price depends on the number of people and the stages of the route.
Mechanical assistance: The organization offers support services on the road.
Supplies: Each stage passes through one or more villages where you can stop for food and water. However, you can hire a refreshment service.
