Cerdanya Enduro Tracks

Get your adrenaline pumping with the 100% enduro routes that run through Cerdanya and Conflent, adding up to 15.000m of negative elevation gain, combining the best descents with the area's ski lifts (cable cars and rack railway).

Description

The Cerdanya Enduro Tracks are multi-day routes that you combine the best enduro routes with the territory's infrastructure (cable cars and rack railway) to reduce the effort of climbing and concentrate all the adrenaline on the spectacular descents over 1400m and one hour long!

These are unique routes in the Pyrenees, where every meter of positive elevation gain rewards you with double the negative elevation gain, reaching a marvelous 10.000m of descent in the 4-stage version, or 15.000m in the 5-stage version with two bike parks. Strong emotions and many kilometers of trails, trials, jumps, ramps, stones and roots that will leave your hands covered in calluses, your knees in tatters, and a smile that won't go away for weeks.

The Tracks de Cerdanya Enduro can be done in 3, 4 and 5 stage formats., each of them with different mileages and slopes.

In all cases, the negative gradient is much greater than the positive gradient, thanks to the route's support infrastructure (cable car and rack railway) that transport you to the start or end of each stage.

The three-stage route is the only one that doesn't connect with any bike parks. The four-stage route passes through the La Molina Bike Park, and the five-stage route visits the La Molina and Les Angles Bike Parks. This last route, also known as the 'Gravity-Pyrenees Challenge,' features impressive numbers: 3 m of elevation gain and 4 m of elevation gain.

Adam Grifoll

A former architect, he is now a mountaineer, mountain bike guide, PMBI instructor, and IMBA technician. Based in Cerdanya, he leads the BikeFriendly Tracks in the Eastern Pyrenees and the Costa Brava.

A lover of trails and trials (better if they're downhill than uphill), and like any self-respecting cyclist, he always has all the bikes he needs plus one, although he's not entirely sure whether the one he needs more than enough is a fatbike, a road bike, a gravel bike, an ebike, an enduro bike, or a fixie.

FAQs

Ideal bike: Without a doubt, a full-suspension bike, with a minimum travel of 120 mm. However, just as this isn't a route for hardtails, it's also not a route for downhill bikes. Enduro protection is also highly recommended: each person can choose what they feel is appropriate.

Tires: Although there's a wide variety of terrain along the route (hard, sandy, rocky, alpine meadows), the grip is always good on all of them, and you won't find any clay or muddy terrain, or trails or trails with loose rocks. You're in mountain biking paradise!

Orientation: The route is tracked using a GPS tracker. The organizers also provide participants with technical information for all stages, a route map, and useful information and tips throughout the route.

Best time: The route can be done from May to November, with the best seasons undoubtedly being spring (with hundreds of streams and lush landscapes) and autumn (with the falling leaves). In summer, the heat is very bearable, and during the rest of the season, don't forget that Cerdanya is the region in Catalonia with the most hours of sunshine per year!

Type of roads: This is a 100% enduro route, with climbs on paths, trails, or cross-country if necessary, and descents on all kinds of trails: some fast on soft terrain, others rocky or rooty, many of them winding, with jumps, banks, and so on, reaching 15.000 meters of negative elevation gain! For the climbs, we use the Bike Park facilities and the rack railway. The route is 100% cyclable. However, individual riding technique is always decisive when it comes to continuing or dismounting the bike at a given point.

Philosophy: This isn't a route for every type of biker. It's clearly an enduro route for enthusiasts of this category. However, it's a self-guided, non-competitive tour; the important thing is to enjoy mountain biking and enduro in their purest form.

Luggage transport: We couldn't imagine an enduro bike with panniers on a 1500m descent. Therefore, considering the technical nature of the route, it's highly recommended to hire this service. The price depends on the number of people and the stages of the route.

Mechanical assistance: The organization offers support services on the road.

Supplies: Each stage passes through one or more villages where you can stop for food and water. However, you can hire a refreshment service.

When the La Molina bike park (for the 4-stage route) is closed, we use the 3-4 hours we would have spent at the bike park to ride some lifts in the area and then drop you off at the route's starting point at 1800m.
This is a 100% enduro route, equivalent to a red-level route at any enduro MTB center, with climbs on paths, trails, or cross-country if necessary, and descents on all kinds of trails: some fast on soft terrain, others rocky or rooty, many of them winding, with optional jumps, banks, and so on, reaching 15.000 meters of negative elevation gain! For the climbs, we use the Bike Parks and the Yellow Train. The route is 99% rideable. Although this route emphasizes the route and descents over passing through a town right at lunchtime, you won't go hungry, as every stage passes through a village where you can stop for a bite to eat and replenish your water supply.
