Tracks Bons Homes
Description
The Tracks Bons Homes (Tracks Buenos Hombres) is a linear itinerary,
cross-border and trans-Pyrenean route, which completely crosses the Pyrenees from south to
north, from the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees (Berguedà) to the Ariege in France. This
The tour follows the migration route used by the Cathars for centuries.
13th and 14th centuries to escape the crusade and the Inquisition. The Tracks Bons Homes has
redesigned this Long Distance Trail (GR-107) to convert it into a
exciting stage route, suitable for MTB.
The Tracks Bons Homes can be done in different stages, depending on

Homes (Camino de los Buenos Hombres), but if you have fewer days, it is
It is possible to do only 2 or 3 stages of the route, either in the southern area or
north, crossing the Catalan Pyrenees or the French part of the route.
In all cases you will have the usual services, including also

TRACKS BONS HOMES ALL MOUNTAIN
The AllMountain variant is the one that most faithfully follows the GR-107, avoiding
only the non-cyclable sections. This is therefore the most technical variant, with
some explosive climbs (not so much for the eBikes) but with the
reward of also finding very long descents 100% on trail.
BONS HOMES XC TRACKS
The XC variant follows closely the AllMountain route, performing practically
always the same climbs and also coinciding at the stage finishes.
However, the descents in this case are on the track, thus reducing the level
route technician.
TRACKS BONS HOMES PLUS
The Tracks Bons Homes Plus can be chosen with both the technical level
AllMountain as with the technical XC level, but in any case it is always
intended for the most experienced cyclist on these slopes.

Meet the creator of this route
Adam Grifoll
Adam Grifoll, mountaineer, mountain bike guide, and PMBI instructor, has created a series of itinerant routes in the Mediterranean Pyrenees with the aim of showcasing, on bike, this wonderful cross-border territory between Spain, France, and Andorra.
What began as a professional project to adapt the GR: Camí dels Bons Homes for mountain bikes, seeking rideable alternatives to the numerous mountain passes unsuitable for bicycles, has become another route managed by Tracks Bikefriendly and its author, with the unique feature of being a linear route. Choose the AllMountain or Cross-Country variant of the route and come discover this itinerary steeped in history.
FAQ
Ideal bike: Any mountain bike (MTB). The choice will depend on individual priorities: lighter weight (hardtail) or greater comfort and enjoyment of the descents (full-suspension). The route is also suitable for e-bikes, with charging points available halfway through each stage.
Tires: Although there is a wide variety of terrain along the route (hard, sandy, rocky, alpine meadow) the grip is generally good on all of them and you will not find clay or muddy terrain.
Navigation: The route is followed using a GPS track. The organizers also provide participants with technical information sheets for all stages, a map of the route, and useful information and tips for the days of the hike.
Best time to go: The route can be done from April to November, and the best times are undoubtedly spring (with its lush landscape) and autumn (with the falling leaves). In summer, the heat is quite bearable as it is a Pyrenean route. The route reaches altitudes above 2000 meters, so the usual precautions for a high-mountain trek should be taken: the weather can change suddenly, so it is advisable to always carry clothing in your backpack that is suitable for the most adverse weather conditions for the time of year you are hiking.
Trail type: The route aims to follow the original Cathar trail, whenever possible, as it is a charming path with spectacular views and numerous points of interest. However, it is not always possible to follow it by mountain bike. In those cases, the route will follow an alternative path, using as much of the trail as possible.
Philosophy: It is a self-guided and non-competitive tour; the important thing is to enjoy mountain biking in its purest form.
Luggage transport: Given the technical nature of the route, hiring this service is highly recommended. The price depends on the number of people and the number of stages covered.
Mechanical assistance: The organization offers roadside support.
Supplies: Each stage passes through one or more villages where you can stop for food and water. However, you can also hire a supply service.
