Aneto Tracks

Impressive high mountain route in the heart of the Aragonese PyreneesYou will pedal under the watchful eye of Aneto, the highest peak in the entire Pyrenees mountain range.

Description

En Aneto Tracks will take you through the upper part of the Ribagorza region, located in the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees, where the Posets – Maladeta Natural Park is located, crowned by the Aneto peak (3.404 metres). You'll ride through the most authentic and unspoiled corners of the Pyrenees, enjoying the Benasque, Isabena, and Castanesa valleys. Sighting a bearded vulture or a capercaillie can make it one of the most unforgettable routes you've ever done. The Puro Pirineo mountain bike center offers trail variations where the most daring will enjoy themselves to the fullest. The 2-day route is the most endurance of all, but the 3- and 4-stage versions are undoubtedly the most spectacular, with passes at over 2.300m above sea level.

Frequently asked questions

Ideal bike: Full suspension bikes are recommended for this route.

Tires: Versatile covers are the most appropriate, as you will find different surfaces: rock, dirt tracks, sections of loose stones, cobblestones, etc. The most advisable thing is to use tubeless or tubes with sealing liquid.

Orientation: You are doing a mountain route and the weather changes quickly, it is advisable to carry at least a windbreaker. We recommend carrying a backpack with water, a multi-tool, and enough spare parts such as cameras, even a thermal blanket and a small first aid kit never hurt.

Best time: Spring and fall are the most pleasant seasons, as summer tends to be warmer. It's closed in winter due to snow.

Type of roads: The GPS equipment continues, either with yours or we can rent one for you. We deliver the track in GPX format. The organization also provides those registered with a map of the route with points of interest during the stages, restaurants, accommodation, etc.

Philosophy: This route explores less-traveled and therefore technical trails and paths, both uphill and downhill. Depending on each rider's technique and strength, the route is 95% rideable. There are some uphill and downhill sections that are only accessible to bikers like Ismael Ventura, Milton Ramos, or Sergio Pérez. Reaching Aigualluts and seeing the legendary Aneto mountain before us is a real challenge.

Luggage transport: Considering the technical nature of the route and altitude, it is advisable to book this service.

Mechanical assistance: The organization offers the support service on the route, in the briefing we explain the rates.

Supplies: In the initial briefing we explain it to you on the route map, but we recommend carrying a backpack with enough water and food to ride the entire day, given that there are some stages that do not pass through inhabited towns.
