See trip: TRACKS FUERTEVENTURA
In search of the best places for cycling, we take you to the Canary Islands. Fuerteventura stands out as an ideal tourist destination for getting lost on wheels. A unique landscape is found in our country. We show you why your next cycling trip should be in the Canary Islands.

Fuerteventura, a cycling destination in the Canary Islands
The country's landscapes are well known. Warmth in the Mediterranean, dryness in the interior of the peninsula, and the greenery of the northern forests. Sometimes, one of the most spectacular landscapes is forgotten: the Canary Islands. This archipelago has a climate and topography unique on the planet.
Their volcanic origin has turned the islands into rocky deserts, with black sand and uneven terrain marked by dormant volcanoes. Fuerteventura, like its neighbors, has suffered relentless erosion over millions of years, making it a desolate-looking island.
Near the Sahara, with no recent eruptions and vast deserts of rock and sand, the second largest of the Canary Islands is a spectacular place to get lost in. And if it's mounted on a bicycle, even better. With incredible routes and unique opportunities, Fuerteventura has to be your next cycling destination outside the Iberian Peninsula.
Tracks of Fuerteventura, the best way to get to know the island
Originating in the capital and running from north to south, this great cycling route ensures that the journey leaves no corner of the island unvisited. Nearly 300 kilometers of route with a cumulative elevation gain of 4820 meters is no easy feat, but it won't be a cycling route that pushes you to the limit either.
Its maximum ascent reaches just 600 meters, and the challenge throughout all stages is not excessive. A moderate level of fitness and cycling skill is recommended. A wonderful cycling experience in Fuerteventura that anyone can participate in.
There are three different options for completing the Fuerteventura Tracks. For those in a hurry and looking to complete the trail as quickly as possible, the route can be completed in five stages. The one recommended by Trackstour is the six-day route: the perfect compromise between demanding and cycle touring. Finally, you can also choose to plan your trip à la carte: plan your itinerary, where you want to go, and what you'd like to see, and the experts will customize the island to your liking. You're in control of your own trip.
Tracks of Fuerteventura: varied routes through a natural paradise
Your physical and technical fitness level is just as important as the number of days you plan to spend on your trip. Once you've decided how much time you'll be spending on your bike in Fuerteventura, you need to know what you'll face on your tour of the island.
This mix of culture, good food, mountains and desert must be explored on a mountain bike well adapted to dry and stony terrain., the most popular on the island. Most of the route is on trails, so you'll need to be prepared for natural paths. Tracks and paved roads complete the rest of the Fuerteventura Nature Tracks circuit.
Once the terrain has been analyzed, the climate is important. The Canary Islands' good weather means you can visit whenever you want, although July and August tend to be windier than usual. Aside from cycling gear, a swimsuit is mandatory: you can't leave Fuerteventura without swimming along one of its wonderful beaches.
An island with endless resources and hundreds of kilometers to enjoy on your bike. Fuerteventura should definitely be on your cycling destination list. And Fuerteventura Tracks is the best way to explore the island.
Maxi Biela, TFuerteventura racks: An island lover who knows everything you need
What started as a hobby has become his job. Maxi left his previous job, locked away for hours in an office, for a new project full of adrenaline and sport. Cycling, one of his passions, went from being his weekend activity to his everyday job.
How was that change of job in search of more passion?
They called me crazy, especially in my family. In my previous job I was bored: everything was predictable, I knew what was going to happen the next day. I didn't like it, I had no reason to keep doing it. So I switched everything to cycling and creating these stage tours.
A nature enthusiast who makes it his job…
I'm always out and about and love nature, both on a bike and hiking. My favorite thing is running in the mountains, but I also love cycling. This is the sport I like best, the one that takes place outdoors and in the mountains. I always say that if exercise was just going to the gym, I wouldn't move and I'd have a big belly. Being physically strong allows me to explore every corner and maintain my adventurous mood.
That adventurous tone is what keeps Tracks going.
That's it. Discovering things, seeing places, and traveling, even on a bicycle. I have transferred my previous experience on other trips to this business model. Adapt long trips into a super trip to small places like Lanzarote or Fuerteventura.
We don't like the long walks and back-to-hotel model. We want people to spend a lot of time on the trails, change accommodations, and get to know the people who live on the islands. Let them soak up the archipelago's way of life. We organize trips, not excursions.
What's the best thing about the Canary Islands Tracks?
The good weather and the sheer number of places to discover. Discovering the corners not usually shown in guidebooks and learning everything about the islands. Also, if you do the whole thing, meeting the people and soaking up the culture of the different islands. It's a very fun adventure.
What do you need to know about Fuerteventura as a cycling destination?
It's the big surprise. Fuerteventura is even drier than Lanzarote; it's an extension of the Sahara. I've fallen in love with it as I've been doing it, and many guests tell us they like Fuerteventura even more than Lanzarote. We've realized that there's something about it that makes it different: you get the feeling that the world has ended, because of its desolation; you don't even know where you are. It is a very difficult thing to find in our world.
The ocean crashing against empty beaches and the eternal desert… People are amazed. Compared to what you see on the peninsula, it's a very different thing. A contrast between the volcanoes and the usual green of Spain. It's a completely different place than anything you'll find out there.
